Excerpts from: Aeroflot Protests U.S. Smoking Ban
The Associated Press [06/22/00]
MOSCOW –– Russia's largest air carrier has accused the United States
of breaking international law by banning smoking on all scheduled airline
flights between the United States and other countries, the company said
Thursday.
Aeroflot appealed to the International Air Transport Association this
week, asking it to decide whether the ban, which went into effect June
4,
was legal.
Many Russian smokers used to choose Aeroflot for long-distance flights because it allowed smoking.
