Utah beats the nation when it comes to tobacco abstinence.
That"s just a part of two reports out of the Utah Health Department that
provide insight into the health of Utahns.
The report contains information obtained by the Utah Department of Health"s
Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System and also the Utah Health Status Survey
Local Health District Overview Report. Behaviors such as smoking, excessive
alcohol consumption, poor nutrition, obesity, under-use of health screening
services and physical inactivity were looked at in the reports.
The reports show Utah"s adult smoking rate was estimated to be 13 percent,
the lowest in the nation. Four health districts within the state -- Bear River,
Summit, Wasatch and Utah counties -- met the department"s objective of
reducing that to 12 percent
