UK Casino Worker Wins Passive Smoke Payout [08/12-1]

Excerpts from: Casino worker gets £50,000 passive smoking payout

The Publican [08/11/03]

A casino worker who claimed he got asthma from being exposed to passive smoke has been given a payout of more than £50,000.

The out-of-court settlement was made to 58 year-old Michael Dunn by Napoleon’s Casino in central London.

The case was brought by the GMB union, which said that Mr Dunn had been fit and healthy until his prolonged exposure to cigar and cigarette smoke, while working at the casino.
The fear is that licensees who allow smoking throughout could also face similar legal action.
