Ireland: Bar Workers' Health Improving Following Smoking Ban [04/04-1]
Excerpts from: Bar workers' health improving, says OTC
Ireland Online [03/29/05]
The workplace smoking ban introduced a year ago has already made a difference to the health of bar workers, according to the Office of Tobacco Control.
The OTC said preliminary results of tests carried out in 40 pubs around Dublin showed a dramatic improvement in air quality.
The tests, conducted by respiratory experts from St James's Hospital, also found a 45% decrease in levels of harmful carbon monoxide among a sample group of non-smoking barmen.
The Office of Tobacco Control also said the smoking ban was prompting people to give up cigarettes.
